What is it and when is it done?
Spirometry measures how much air you can breathe in and out and how fast. The basic test for asthma and COPD, before surgery and for smokers.
How long does it take?
15–20 minutes, 30–45 with bronchodilator test.
How do I prepare?
No smoking, coffee or large meal 2 hours before.
What happens afterwards?
Result immediately.
Referral: No referral is needed for a private appointment. In the public system you need a referral from your family doctor.
