About Breast MRI

What is it and when is it done?

Breast MRI is the most sensitive breast examination, with contrast. Done for high hereditary risk, unclear mammography and ultrasound, implant checks and before surgery.

How long does it take?

30–40 minutes.

How do I prepare?

Best between day 7 and 14 of the cycle. Creatinine test for contrast. Bring previous images.

What happens afterwards?

Report in 2–5 working days.

Referral: With a referral from your family doctor this examination is free in the public system (often with a wait). Privately you pay yourself and need no referral.
